I recently finished 'Florescence' after a protracted struggle.

It is now hanging in the Penwith Gallery in St Ives,  in the members show, where it seems to hold its own among my fellow members work.

Showing in group shows can be a useful way of assessing the strength of a piece, especially when it leaves the studio as soon as it is finished.

I felt a pang for it when I went over for the opening, it being so new to be out in the world on its own. I usually keep work around for a time to make sure it's truly ready to go out.  The danger of that, of course is that there is always  the temptation to change  something, and never to make the decision that the work is finished.
